A sense of urgency hit D Rose when he came back into the game in the 4th quarter of last night’s win at home against the Indiana Pacers. The two fast breaks that he was a part of were huge; One dish to Larry Hughes who got the ‘and one’ and then on the receiving end from Ben Gordon for the slam. Thing is, we are right back to where we belong: a .500 club. Beating a team like Indiana shouldn’t be a big deal. Unfortunately, it is.
Hinrich has a torn ligament in his right thumb, and will be subject to surjery.
I’ll be honest and say that I have been a big Kirk Hinrich fan in all his years here as a Chicago Bull. He works hard, is unselfish, and plays with integrity. However, I’ll also be the first to admit that I don’t foresee Hinrich’s injury making a major impact on the Bulls. Our best point guard will still be there to lead us, and a better scorer in Gordon will start to fill the gap. Basically the most significant downside is lack of resting time for D. Rose. With Larry Hughes back soon, this injury could give the plethora of guards some extra playing time as well.
Same Problems. Over and over again. Last year it was easy for me to hold onto hope, as we witnessed the 06-07 team do some good things. This year I just want to turn the tv off. An embarassing loss to Cleveland last night shows that the Bulls collection of talent just can’t gel together, and has to work too hard to get off a decent shot. I think a trade needs to be in the works. We have too much talent in the backcourt, and at small forward type players, but they dont have a 4 or 5 player and it is killing us in the NBA. Yeah Vinny can tinker with the lineups, hopefully getting Tyrus and Joakim some consistent minutes, and bringing in Gordon sooner, but at the end of the day, didn’t we try all these things last year? I think we know this is not going to work. We have racked up a lot of talent, but we dropped the ball by never acquiring a legit big man. Pax, it’s your move! Getter Done! The Cavs just blasted us with Wallace. The Magic and Celtics squashed us. The only teams we’ve beaten are the Bucks and the Grizzlies, a pair of subpar teams. Frustration.
