Bulls wave goodbye to Wizards in 2nd half

While leading by only 5 points at halftime, the Bulls cruised past the Wizards in the third Q by outscoring them 36-20.  Some points to take away from the pre season so far, and from the Wizards game in particular:

  • Duhon had the most minutes (23:19) other than Noah, and I thought Du did a good job.  However, he has got to work on limiting turnovers.  They will become too costly in close games as the regular season starts.  Part of me wonders if he only plays well when the pressure is off, such as the preseason, although he did hit that a clutch 3 against the Heat and again against the Pistons in the playoffs last year. If he relaxes out there, he can be a very valuable 6th or 7th man to give Kirk and Ben some rest.

  • I really think we ought to use Viktor Khryapa more this year.  I mean, he is probably the most underrated player on the team.  He only appeared in 33 games last year, and in those games for an average of 7 minutes.  If you averaged his playing time over all the Bulls' games, he was closer to 2 minutes per game.  Not enough in my opinion.  The guy can ball, but unfortunately for him, he has found himself on a now very deep team. I just don't think we are deep enough to not use him.

  • It's too early to say Deng is going to be an All-Star this year.  Or is it?  He seems to have improved tremendously and is now showing some post moves with some success as well.  His range has improved by about a foot or so. Will be interesting to see if he attempts any threes this year.  Of course he hit some from the bit-closer international three point line.  I'd like to see what he could do.  But my guess is that he will be making the All-Star team this year.
